Today we are talking about health. This year I had a few wake up calls. Being a food writer and recipe developer you could say I love food. Over the last few years pounds have crept back on and lingered. A little visit to the emergency room made me think about how am I caring for this body God gave me. It was a tiny kidney stone that was making great pain in my back!
I have a lot more of life I want to live, so I embarked on a 28 day detox. I will write more about it later but I am so glad it started this journey. I lost 5 pounds in the first week but more than that my stomach issues have almost completely subsided in just 1 week. I wake up energized and am clear-headed.
It is not just a diet to follow, it is looking at food choices and how my body tolerates it. It is seeing what energize me and what drains me.
Detox is more than about food, it is about cleaning house spiritually and emotionally. I am looking at what I need less of in my life and where I am depleted. I have tolerated too much stress and need to rethink things.
Are you a little weary? A little run down? I’d encourage you to stop and reflect what you and your body needs to feel better. I had to get serious and make some tough decisions.
A month later this is what I know feeds my soul.
1. Time with God
2. Time with family
3. Gathering around the table with friends
4. Doing work I love
5. Serving
6. Travel
7. Movies that inspire me
8. Music that moves me
more to come….
I hope you will take time to reflect. Jesus said “Come to me all who are weary and I will give you rest”… He has met me in so many ways. Ways I am still haven’t fully processed but I know He is faithful and that He longs for us to turn to Him.
What is feeding your soul now? Share so we can inspire each other!
