“People love to have lived a great story, but people dislike the work it takes to make it happen. But joy costs pain.” Donald Miller, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years
To create meaningful moments in our life, we have to put in the work. For me, I really want to be married, but for many years you might not have known that by my actions. My work in this area is being vulnerable and being uncomfortable. I signed up for online dating and started attending singles events. It feels a bit scary, like I am standing her baring all, to share that deep desire.
I can’t tell you how painful some of these singles things are but I am keeping the vision of what I desire in my head. In moments I want to throw in the towel and go to the safety of my home or comfortable friends, I pray and ask that the Lord would bless my efforts. That I would be open. I wish I had put this effort in earlier but I can’t change it.
The chances of my future husband walking up to my door, are pretty slim. So, I get dolled up, give myself a pep talk, blast loud upbeat music in the car and drive to my next step in this journey.
Chances are if you are joining me in this series you want more, in a relationship, in friendships or community. Expect pain, embrace it and be willing to learn from it.
Ok, I have shared one of things I working on – what about you? Let’s share and root each other on as we intentional focus on creating meaningful moments.
This post is part of the 31 Days of Creating Meaningful Moments. You can see the entire series here as it unfolds.

Hi there! I just came across your series when looking through all the 31 dayers and it caught my eye, because it’s similar to what I’ve been writing on! I love what you have so far…and I love that book by Don Miller too! 🙂
