Welcome to Day 3 of 31 Days of Creating Meaningful Moments.
Have you been thinking about your most meaningful moments? In addition to being present we must be willing to be vulnerable.
Brene Brown, author of Daring Greatly, says “Vulnerability is the core, the heart, the center , of meaningful human experiences.
We must risk failure and possible rejection to create a meaninful life. It might be as simple as introducing a new family tradition at the risk of having family members mock it or resist it. It could be voicing something that is important to you, stating a need or want and risking negative feedback from those we care about.
I used to be pretty vulnerable and then a series of disappointments, bad choices and heart break led me to building walls that kept me emotionally safe. Emotionally safe won’t get you a meaningful life. I can tell you that first hand. At work I could take risks and grow but personally, not so much.
So, I am writing this as much as an encouragement to me as anyone else. Here are a few things to think about.
* Where have you put up a wall?
* What is the wall keeping you from?
* What is one thing you need or want in a relationship that you have been afraid to state?
That is Jack my dog. He has no problem being vulnerable. When he wants his belly rubbed, he backs up and falls on my lap. I could use a little of that freedom! See you tomorrow!
