This last week while pursuing being rooted I have found the urge to be still. I have been drawn to take time to read. I can send mindless hours reading on the internet but much of it is not inspiring or meaningful. I have loved to read since I was a little girl.
Last night, I watched my niece talk about the new book she was reading. As she told me the story I saw the wonder in her eyes. These were her new friends and she was excited. The book inspired her to build a parade route in her playroom with her American Girl dolls. It was a beautiful thing.
In the trials of life we often lose our wonder. As we grow up the childlike faith we had fades. If we are lucky there are moments, glimpses of those magical feelings.
Jesus talked about believing with a childlike faith. We over think things when kids cut to the chase. They can quickly fall into these moments of pure joy, running and playing with abandon.
To experience wonder and childlike faith one must be quiet and refuel. One must be willing to let go of the tightly held controls and free fall.
Margaret Feinberg has a new book on this aptly called Wonderstruck. Last year I read Scouting the Divine: My Search for God in Wine, Wool, and Wild Honey, another of her books and fell in love with her words. She has fresh words to offer us. Her latest book encourages us to rediscover the feeling of being wonderstruck. It is something we all could use, right? Ask God to give you eyes to see the little glimpses of wonder and beauty throughout your day. Be still and quiet your soul. Have an expectant spirit throughout the day and see what God does.

Let’s encourage each other through sharing!
