My own experiences with abortion left me broken and ashamed. Thanks to my mentor I found myself in a post abortion group where I found God’s grace and started living free again. It was not an overnight thing but a journey. I wish I had chosen differently, I wish I had found courage but I didn’t. I am thankful for God’s grace, for second chances and for freedom in Christ.
Jesus died that we might be free. After many years of punishing myself, numbing myself and desperately trying to deny my choices the group brought me to my knees. In those 8 short weeks I found myself free. If you have ever seen The Mission, there is that scene with Robert DeNiro carrying this enormous sack of junk as a means of punishment for his sins. There is a turning point where it is apparent to everyone else that all he has to do is cut it off to be free but he thinks he has to keep paying the price. A young boy laughs at him, running over and cutting the sack free with his knife. It tumbles down this huge cliff and Robert De Niro’s character falls to his knees crying. That is how I felt when I accepted God’s grace and I see it happen to the women I lead through studies.
Because of this I am passionate about:
- Helping women find freedom from the pain of a past abortion by leading, training others to lead and promoting post abortion support groups through her speaking engagements
- Educating the church and christian families about the long term effects of thinking abortion will solve your problems. Many families who identify themselves as christian chose abortion for themselves and their daughters thinking it will just go away. So many churches are still silent about this.
- Promoting healthy communication about sex and abstinence speaking to both teens and their parents. Don’t wait until they are pregnant to start talking. Did you know that eating dinner together nightly is the best defense for teen sex and pregnancy?
- Informing young women facing an unplanned pregnancy about their options through working and supporting the work of pregnancy clinics.
