I love books. They inspire me, comfort me and bring me hope. Fiction, non fiction and of course, cookbooks!
A luxury is reading a good book all afternoon. Have you had those books that you start to read and just can’t stop. Redeeming Love was one of those books. I still can see where I was when I read that book. It captured my heart and actually propelled me to take action. I started serving with a ministry after reading that book.
Lately, my books have been non-fiction though I want to pick up a great fiction book for August. Any suggestions? Leave them in the comments.
Here are five books that are impacting me this month:
Draw The Circle by Mark Batterson – This is my second read, it is that good. As a person who is searching and starting new ventures it has encouraged me as I circle around these specifically in prayer.
Becoming Myself by Stasi Elderedge – I am just in the beginnings but I love this book. She is honest about her struggles and looking at the reasons that lie beneath the surface. For women who have struggled with weight, with issues of who am I and of self doubt, this is a must read.
Wonderstruck by Margaret Feinberg – This books helped me be more present and aware of how God is moving in my life, even in the itsy bitsy ways. I discovered her books last year and have made my way through almost of them now. I love her voice. At the moment she is starting a fight with breast cancer and I admire her authenticity and honest approach.
Bless Your Heart: Saving the World One Covered Dish At A Time by Patsy Caldwell and Amy Lyles Wilson – This book is part fun, part inspiration for a few little projects I am working on. It is full of southern stories and recipes to try. Every day I am more convinced I should be living in the south!
Bread and Wine by Shauna Niequist It is a love letter to life around the table, with recipes. As a person who celebrates life around the table, it is a beautifully written book. I love reading her words. In the intro she shares her last supper meal and I realized mine would look very similar! It is all about the sacred moments in life we get to share with others.
So what about you? What are you reading this summer? I would love to hear and get new inspiration for books!
